Frequently Asked Questions

Here you will find answers to most of my commonly asked questions about live event/wedding painting + custom art.  Please do not hesitate to ask if there is a question that I have not answered below. I look forward to serving you.

Sincerely,
Sarah
  1. Q: What is a live event/wedding painting?

    ?

A: Great question. I will be at your event (in the flesh! Usually at the back of the space in the place you would like the view of the painting to be from) and be painting a scene on a canvas for you to keep forever. I will show up early and prepare the background and paint through the ceremony or reception (your choice!) adding in people and details as the event progresses. I will continue to paint until it is finished (around 4-5 hours total). You can pick if there is anything particular in the way of the pose that you would like. (first kiss, first dance, etc.). Because of the nature of the timeframe, the look is impressionistic and loose conveying the moment and the emotion of the festival joy of the occasion. It is truly an honor to be a part of such a meaningful day.
  2. Q: Oh that sounds awesome. How do I sign up?

    ?

A: Very simple. Check availability with me. I will send you a proposal with contract and payment plan. Once filled out and payment received (voila) you are booked! All I will need the day of the event is a point person to show me where I am to set up and to leave the painting with at the end of the event.
  3. Q: How much is it?

    ?

A: Since this is my first year of learning the trade, my intro prices are very affordable. It starts at $500 (depends on travel + day + size change, etc.). I require 50% deposit at the time of booking and the total to be paid 1 month before the event. If booking within one month, the entire price needs to be paid. (Unless we have spoken of a different payment plan.)
  4. Q: Do you go outside and paint?

    ?

A: Yes, weather permitting. And I am flexible if we need to move inside!
  5. Q: Do you need anything?

    ?

A: Before the day, I will provide an opportunity for the client to let me know of any specific desires they have for the painting. (ex: for a wedding painting, the client might want a painting of the ceremony with the focus on the bride and groom holding hands while saying their vows, the colors of the wedding are helpful for planning too) + a point person the day of the event and their phone number. I will bring an easel, a canvas, all my painting supplies, and a small side table to place paint and water.
  6. Q: For custom art, do you work from photos?

    ?

A: Yes. Simply email a photo of the pose (ex a dog for a pet portrait) and maybe a few other photos that will help me with coloring and seeing different perspectives of your subject is always helpful. Plus I love to see more photos of things that mean a lot to you!
  7. Q: What is the turnaround time between commissioning a piece and having it in my hand?

    ?

A: 2-4 weeks depending on where you are in the line-up of commissions. If there is more of a delay, I will let you know upfront.

Thank you!
